Walmart Foundation Donates $40,000 to Salvation Army of NWA

The Walmart Foundation donated $40,000 to the Salvation Army of Northwest Arkansas for local feeding programs.

$30,000 of the donation will benefit traditional feeding programs like hot meal service and food pantry boxes. The remaining $10,000 will be put towards the Pathway of Hope initiative.

The Pathway of Hope initiative is a new nationwide program that seeks to move families out of their current crisis and poverty, enabling them and their children to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

“The impact of receiving this grant is far-reaching,” Major Mary Matthews, Associate Area Commander of the NWA Area Command, said. “During summer months, donations are often low; however, those who are in need do not struggle less. We are so grateful to be able to continue our work here in this community throughout the summer months and beyond. Partners like the Walmart Foundation truly make the realization of our vision possible.”

The Salvation Army fed over 47,000 meals to those in need last year.
